A loan helped a member to buy fertilizer for a coffee farm.


Ang Nua 20 Group's story

Huong is the team leader of the Ang Nua 20 group which consists of five members. In the photo, Huong stands first from the right.

Huong, almost 40 years old, is a Thai ethnic minority woman. She works as a farmer to provide for her family of three including her spouse and her daughter, who attends school. Her small family lives in poor village of Vietnam, located in the northwest border of Vietnam with Laos.

Huong mainly works at her family's agricultural business. cultivating rice and coffee. This brings in her monthly average income of 5.000.000 VND. When Huong was a kid, due to difficult circumstances, she couldn’t go to school. Huong wants her daughter to go to school fully, for a chance at a better future than hers.

Huong always works hard and tries to develop her coffee farm, but coffee trees grow slowly due to the lack of fertilizer. Fortunately, she successfully borrowed a loan from the Anh Chi Em program, to buy fertilizer for her farm. This is her ninth loan. Huong successfully repaid all her previous loans.

Huong hopes that in the future, her business will be more stable, her income will improve and she can cover living expenses, as well as have enough money for her daughter’s education.
