A loan helped to purchase farm inputs such as fertilizers and seeds to improve production and income for a widow to help live a sustainable life.

Rose's story

This is Rose, a widow and 44-year-old mom of seven, of whom five are school-going children, and a mother who always wears a contagious smile and never looks back on her past failures. She is a hardworking, progressive and honest farmer from a very remote village in the Kapsowar area of Kenya. This area is very fertile with favorable weather patterns that support farming activities.

Rose is a proud mother of lovely children and vows to give them the best despite being the sole provider after the loss of her husband and their dad. Together, they live on a small piece of land that she really treasures. Her primary sources of income are eggs and milk. Rose is contented with the farming way of life. She is a very enterprising woman. Although she never had formal education or formal employment, she has always worked hard on her farm, and has always been able to provide her children and family with decent meals.

The area has favorable conditions for farming. That is why Rose is requesting a loan to buy seeds and fertilizers, so that she can expand her crop farming. Because of the good roads, a good climate, and a good transportation network, she is sure that she will reap maximum profits, and she will be able to increase her business. Rose is very thankful for your help and contribution.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
