A loan helped to pay water bills to ease the distribution of water.

Hafisha's story

Hafisha is 25 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is married and has 3 children with 2 of them currently in school. For the past 4 years, Hafisha has been working hard to manage her water distribution business which distributes water for sale and sells scrap items.

To help expand her business, Hafisha has requested a loan of 1,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to pay water bills to ease the distribution of water and will help Hafisha to generate greater profits to buy food for her family. Hafisha hopes that in the future she will be able to own a retail shop and build rentals.

Hafisha is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Hafisha who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
