A loan helped to purchase modern farm inputs, such as certified seeds and organic fertilizers, to improve the quality of her output.

Gladys's story

Gladys is a loving farmer who is motivated to get up and work hard to accomplish two goals: to improve her housing conditions and to be able to have a good future. She is a rural, smallholder farmer from the Siongiroi area of Kenya. Her main income source is milk from her dairy farm. However, she is also involved in other agricultural activities.

The biggest problem that farmers from her remote village face is the huge deficit in terms of access to agricultural inputs, meaning that farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be. Juhudi Kilimo partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholder farmers around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers like Gladys can now buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs to use on their farms.

She is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer. A loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market, and in the process, generate more income to repay the loan and improve the quality of life of her family.

Help this mother accomplish all of her dreams with a loan!
