A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as seeds and organic manure to improve her farming.

Pamela's story

Pamela, 41, is a smallholder farmer from a remote village in Kitale. She is a skillful farmer with many years of experience. Pamela is married to a fellow farmer. The biggest problem that farmers from Kitale face is the huge deficit in terms of access to agricultural inputs, meaning those farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be.

Juhudi Kilimo partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers from Kitale, like Pamela, can now buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms. Pamela is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers that will enable her to improve her production. This intervention will help her meet the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and improve her family's quality of life. Pamela appreciates you taking your precious time out of your busy schedules to check her profile and hopes for your support.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
