A loan helped fund the creation of an educational resource center for students w/ special needs & their families.

Petitt's story

For the last 4 and a half years, I have been a special education teacher in various communities around the state. However, my passion for special education started not in the classroom, but rather, in my own home. Both of my brothers and now, my own daughter, have experienced the challenges of having a learning disability, ADHD, or an emotional regulation impairment that affects their ability to work and play both in and out of school. When I moved to Hunterdon County, I realized there was a huge lack of supports for students with special needs in the community. I also felt fully as a mother, the anxious worry of trying to find extracurricular activities for your child that you know they can participate in full regardless of their own challenges. With that, Hope for All Learners was born in an attempt to remove the barriers that prevent students with special needs from accessing the best services both academically and socially.
