A loan helped to increase the size of her chicken flock.

Joanita's story

Joanita is a 23-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her nuclear family in the Bongo district in Ghana. She has a poultry business. With her previous Kiva loan she purchased more birds and feed. She used the profit she earned to pay for her school fees.

She is now requesting another loan to increase the size of her flock. She plans to use the profit she earns to support her family's basic needs.

She will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering two-and-one-half hours per week as a CAMFED Loan Coordinator, using her expertise to mentor and support fellow CAMFED Association borrowers in her community to complete repayment of their loans. Since she has already successfully paid off at least one loan herself, she is uniquely positioned to help others.

This loan is special because:

It helps borrowers withstand negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
