A loan helped to buy a small lot and to plant organic ginger.

Ariel's story

Meet Mr. Ariel ! He is a community leader and an agricultural entrepreneur in his community of Santa Librada, East Panama.

Ariel is a hardworking individual with experience farming ginger, cocoyam and sweet potato. Over the course of the last year, he has grown his family business remarkably with the resources at hand.

Ariel is asking for his first Kiva loan to buy a small lot, ginger seeds and equipment to boost ginger production and distribution in his region. The loan will bring employment and entrepreneurship opportunities to younger generations as this crop is very labor intense.

Currently, he is in the process of gathering enough seeds to plant in his future land to meet the demand for ginger which has increased in the last couple of months.

Thank you for contributing to Ariel's loan and to the economic development of rural areas that have been historically excluded from basic financial services.

This loan is special because:

It helps unbanked communities in rural areas gain access to financial services.
