A loan helped a minority, family owned cleaning company expand their cleaning business.

Amber's story

I grew up in a single-parent household in inner-city Waco, TX. My mother was a very hard worker and did everything she could to guide my sister and me in the right direction. My main issue is that I've always struggled to know which direction was "right" as I've always had many interests and tried a variety of activities which only seemed to make knowing where my life was headed even more complicated. My mother kept a very clean home so I never had many chores but it was in college that I discovered how therapeutic and calming cleaning was for me. Cleaning my dorm room after softball practice and a tough day of studies was a solace for me. So this is where my journey of cleaning really began.

It wasn't until about 7 years later while still struggling to finish school that I found a part-time job cleaning. That company closed its business, my husband and I had just lost our firstborn baby girl in a tragic freak accident and it was in the midst of all of my loss and grief that I presented to my husband Curtis the idea that we could start our own cleaning company. Because he was currently working in management and was studying Business in school, he was enthused and excited as a way to build SWEEP into something that our family could be proud of for generations to come. We have 2 teenage sons and 2 toddlers who look up to us and watch our every move so we are willing to do all that we possibly can to ensure that our business is headed in an infinite direction.
