At the beginning of lockdown, in spring 2020, I was let go from the company that relocated me and my wife Tania to Nashville five years ago. In the first wave of the pandemic, with no employment opportunities, I taught myself to make Sourdough. Our dream was always to open a bakery later in life, but when the pandemic gave us the opportunity to get a jump on it, we did not hesitate. We purchased a commercial oven on eBay and transformed our garage into a makeshift commercial kitchen. We started our business by selling in our local community, delivering fresh bread and pastries to our neighbors and strangers alike. We expanded into farmers markets in June of 2020, and are now in our very first commercial kitchen space as of April of 2021. We now have six steady wholesale accounts in the greater nashville area, multiple farmers markets weekly, and are gearing up to open a full breakfast and coffee bar in a nearby hotel where we do all of our baking.
With Tania resigning from her W-2 job this month, we are now full time bakers together. We have an immense amount of confidence in our product and our business model. It is clear from speaking to community members, a bakery like ours is most welcomed (and needed!) Our motivation comes from seeing our wonderful customers tell us how much they love our bread and scones. We bake to make others smile, which in-turn makes us smile! Business Description
We are Flour Your Dreams Bakery! We provide fresh pastries and bread daily to our community, and the greater Nashville area. We are currently operating out of a hotel kitchen which we have leased through March of 2022. Our goal is by next year to have secured a physical location where we can have our true Brick and Mortar bakery. In the mean time, we are able to welcome both hotel guests and outside patrons for coffee and soon full breakfast.
We started this business out of necessity, but ultimately fell in love with it in the process. As mentioned previously, I ended up jobless at the start of the pandemic. With the help of my wife, we've turned a hobby of mine into a career of ours. We've become so successful in the last year that she recently resigned from her W-2 job and is now a full time co-owner and baker!
What is the purpose of this loan?
With our business only being incorporated for a little over a year, traditional financing is very difficult to acquire. In order to grow, we have to hire at least 1-2 people to begin serving our full service breakfast at the hotel. This will allow for additional help in the kitchen, serving patrons, and providing coffee as well. With two people currently, it's very difficult to man all stations at once.
Should we receive this funding, we will be able to grow our team to accommodate the growth we foresee. We are fortunate to be in a space with a built in audience. When looking at past metrics, we expect at least 50% of guests at the hotel to purchase breakfast and coffee from us in the morning. With very low overhead, plus our added outside wholesale accounts, direct to customer sales, and catering, we feel this can be a very lucrative business. Additionally, we intend to purchase some much needed equipment in order to streamline our workflow in the kitchen. This will ultimately cut down on man hours needed to do certain tasks. Lastly, we will need display cases for our pastries, parfait cups, quiches, and breakfast sandwiches on the front of house side.

We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.

"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
