A loan helped a black woman business owner add a bakery to her store.

Karen's story

Hello, I’m Karen the owner of Karen’s Kreations & Delights located in Downtown Springdale, Arkansas. I moved to Northwest Arkansas (NWA) 16 years ago from a small town in Eastern Arkansas. The move was to better me and my children because NWA now has many cities and a population of over 500,000. After years of being in the area and working different jobs gaining experience as a tax preparer. I knew I wanted to own my own business. Baking became a part of my life in February 2010 when I would buy snacks for my four children and they would eat them up and put the boxes back in the cabinet as if they hadn’t been touched. I then began to constantly bake goods for my children, family, and friends. I worked for months on different desserts to see what would be most popular thinking my business ownership would include baking. I became pretty famous locally for my gourmet-style cheesecakes such as strawberry crunch, banana pudding, turtles, lemon meringue, butter pecan and so many more.

This loan is special because:

It supports a Black female entrepreneur in expanding their business.
