A loan helped this ever smiling mom to buy farm inputs, such as seeds and fertilizers, to improve her production and make more profit for her family.

Betty's story

Betty (37), a mother of 2 school going kids, is characterized by her sense of responsibility, her independence, and her great desire to achieve. She works hard and perseveres because she wants a great future for her children.

She is a mixed crop and dairy farmer. The biggest problem that farmers from the Nandi hills face is the huge deficit in access to agricultural inputs, meaning those farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be.

Juhudi Kilimo partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers from Nandihills, like Betty, can now buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Betty is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as seeds and fertilizer. Support her at this time when the COVID-19 pandemic has affected food systems, food security, and agricultural livelihoods.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
