A loan helped to provide clean drinking water access and employment in Uganda.

Sharifah's story

Sharifah is a 3rd-year student studying Mass Communication at Kampala University. She got the interest to join Jibu 5 months ago when she purchased the Jibu bottle for the first time. She was impressed by the convenience that Jibu presented to the community and the quality affordable drinking water. Sharifah and her partner went through a successful two months trial period and are ready to have their franchise set up in Kyengera.

Jibu is a social enterpriser pioneering a powerful new model that capitalizes and equips entrepreneurs in emerging market communities to own businesses that ensure access to basic human necessities, with water as an anchor product. Jibu has scaled a network of locally owned, financially independent and self-sustaining franchises that provide safe drinking water to their communities while offering life-changing training and employment. The company’s vision is to train, finance, and grow a network of co-invested business owners like Sharifah, who will revolutionize the way critical resources are leveraged to develop essential infrastructure in emerging markets.
