Mariama's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 28-year-old Mariama from Kroo town branch. She is married with one child, 7 years old. Mariama started this business to take care for herself and support her family.

Mariama runs a retail business, selling charcoal, palm oil and other assorted items to her customers around the community. She has been in this business for six years now. Her other source of income is from her husband. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes.

Mariama has requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase more bags of charcoal, gallons of palm oil and other assorted items to increase her business. Mariama says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her standard of living and educate her child. In the future, she would like to establish her business to a larger scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
