Rose's story

Rose is 27 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Kabuusu region of Uganda. She is married and has one child. For the past 3 years, Rose has been working hard to manage her beauty salon, which does hair dressing.

To help expand her business, Rose has requested a loan of 1,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase weaves, hair lotions, hair treatment and a hair dryers to attract more customers. It will help Rose to generate greater profits and improve her standard of living by providing enough food for her family. Rose hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business into a big and attractive beauty salon.

Rose is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Rose who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
