A loan helped a small, black woman-owned business that spread confidence, security, and love to other minority women!

Cebriaya's story

Growing up in a single-parent, low-income household had a negative effect on many aspects of my confidence. I was enrolled in a predominately white school with kids who came from wealthier backgrounds. I was unable to afford the same clothes and shoes that they had which was detrimental to my confidence and prevented me from fully expressing myself.

Low confidence was an issue that followed me into my college years. Stressing from class and work, I never had the chance to focus on what I wore or how I truly felt. I had become acclimated to buying clothes for convenience rather than to look presentable and feel confident. I began to gain unhealthy weight and my confidence lowered tremendously. This confidence drop carried into other aspects of my life such as work and school causing my grades to drop tremendously, and a rapid decline in my mental health. Once I pinpointed this as a major factor in my problems, I began to take action. Being a psychology major, it was natural for me to began researching ways to improve confidence. While researching, I came across multiple articles and videos about the major benefits of expressive fashion and how it can be a confidence booster.

This was the beginning of my journey with Tonix Fashion. This information was life-changing for me and boosted my confidence tremendously. I created Tonix Fashion with the purpose of spreading confidence to other women, specifically minority women. Being able to see other women share how my clothes make them feel good about themselves motivates me to continue to grow and scale my business. My purpose in persevering even through Covid-19 is to keep spreading light to other women by offering them a variety of clothing options that makes them feel more than good about themselves.
