Salamata's story

Salamata is a seamstress and mother of three children, two of whom are in school. She opened a sewing workshop and has also been selling juice for over 7 years in a suburb of the capital. She is on her seventh loan cycle with the microfinance institution, Yikri, and has repaid her first Kiva loan without any difficultues. She is applying for a new loan to buy a sewing machine, a refrigerator, and bags of bissap (dried hibiscus flowers) and sugar to make juice to sell to her customers. She intends to use the profits to reinvest in her business and save to buy a plot of land. She asks everyone to protects themselves from COVID-19.
