A loan helped to purchase pagnes, a traditional Togolese cloth.

Abra's story

Madame Abra T. A. is 36 years old. She is married to another merchant and they live in Lomé, Togo with their one child.

Madame A. sells pagnes, beautifully colored traditional Togolese cloths. She has been selling pagnes since 1999. She sells them by walking through her neighborhood, carrying the pagnes stacked on her head. This is a lucrative business, given that most women in Togo use pagnes as skirts or dresses, baby wraps, head wraps, or cloth for making other clothing. She is now taking her first loan from WAGES of 300,000 CFA in order to purchase 20 more pagnes to sell.
