A loan helped to purchase more dry fish and chicken to sell.

Sabatu's story

Sabatu is 22 years old, from Liberia. She is living together with her partner along with 2 children, one of whom is schooling. Sabatu attended school up to 7th grade. She is a young entrepreneur who sells dry fish and chicken. Her partner works as a builder to earn extra income. Her mother taught her how to sell. She faces no problem with her business and uses car to transport supplies at her business site. Sabatu applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, Kiva's Field Partner.

With this loan, she will again purchase more dry fish and chicken to sell in order to repay her loan installment and increase her income. She likes her business because sales are fast. In the future, she wants to build a house. Sabatu is highly grateful for the financial support BRAC and KIVA have rendered.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
