Adding to basket
The banc villageois which is home to this group was formed in May, 2009. It is comprised of seven women who live in the same neighborhood and have good relations. Their primary activity is business. They have repaid several loans when they were due.
Madame Oumy Khaïry, 44 years old, is the representative of the group. She is standing on the left in the photo with her arm raised and her finger pointed. She is married and the mother of four children, whose ages range between 18 years and 7 months; three of them are in school.
Oumy Khaïry is engaged in poultry farming and draws on good experience of more than 10 years in this field.
She plans to buy 150 chicks and 20 sacks of poultry feed, as well as pay for vaccines. Her business is doing well because she is recognized in the industry for selling chickens.
Her profits will enable her to add to her savings, take care of her children's small needs, and help her husband with the household expenses.
