Annie's story

Annie Marie lives in an urban district which is the largest residential area located just a 5-minute drive to Port Vila city. Her community relies on the food industry as a means of income and during this Covid-19 pandemic it has been satisfactory for one to earn income. Annie Marie is 52 years old and is married to a self employed electrician. She has five children who are of the ages 28, 26, 25, 24 and 15. She lives with her husband and children in her own home.

Annie Marie has asked for a loan to help her purchase housing materials to build her house and baking ingredients which she needs to bake delicious local bread. She wants to build a food stall so that she can sell her bread to the locals and visitors that pass by. With the earned revenue, she will pay for her youngest child's school fees to get a good education and earn a well paid job in the future.

Annie Marie has been baking for several years now. She dreams of opening her own bakery and becoming a main supplier of baking in all of Port Vila. South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd has supported Annie Marie for over three years now, and this is her fifth loan. She has been devoted to her previous loan repayments on a timely manner. As she grows with her loans, Annie Marie feels empowered to expand her business and become a successful entrepreneur.
