Business Description
Scratch Master Mobile is a fully insured, fully mobile auto repair service based in Casco, Maine. We do mainly bodywork – scratches, dents, small paint jobs, rust repair, and the like. We can also do most mechanical work as long as it doesn’t require a lift. I have a van with all the equipment I need to be fully mobile, including an air compressor and generator. So, when a customer contacts us for a service, we go to their home or work (wherever they are!) and conveniently complete the work on site. Our customer testimonials express how much they value our affordable rates, fast and friendly service, attention to detail, and – during COVID-19 – careful adherence to safety and distance precautions. I started this business because back in Iran I owned a business repairing cars and small appliances and loved it. I also worked for Maaco for 6 years before starting Scratch Master Mobile, so I have a lot of experience in the industry.
What is the purpose of this loan?
I plan to use this loan for three things: 1) marketing, 2) a down payment on a new van, and 2) new equipment. As for marketing, we need to more proactively expand our reach, as we have been limited to finding customers through our Facebook page and basic Google searching. That has worked well, but we want to incorporate some more local marketing, possibly via radio or print. As for the van, I am currently driving a 1995 Nissan Quest minivan, which I converted to a work van. I need a utility van that will enhance our professional presence and hold more equipment. It would also be safer than what I am driving now. Finally, as for equipment, I need to invest in a new air compressor, power washer, and water tank as these are essential to my business. Ultimately, these funds will allow me to increase Scratch Master Mobile’s visibility, enhance its professional presence on jobs, and acquire better equipment to be even more effective and mobile than we are now!

"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
"No" means that the Lending Partner is not covering any currency losses and all losses will be passed onto lenders.
"N/A" means the Lending Partner disburses loans to borrowers in USD so their loans are not subject to any currency fluctuation.
Do Kiva borrowers pay any interest on their loans?
Our partners collect interest from borrowers because there are many operational expenses associated with microfinance in developing markets, especially in rural areas. Many of Kiva's Lending Partners also provide additional services alongside their loan products such as business training, financial literacy lessons, or health services.
Kiva will not partner with an organization that charges unreasonable interest rates, and we require Lending Partners to fully disclose their rates. In addition, we only partner with microfinance institutions and organizations that have a social mission to serve the poor, unbanked, and underserved.
