Samuel's story

Samuel C. is from the village of Lugait, Misamis Oriental. He is 35 years old. Samuel is married and has three school-aged children. Samuel owns and operates a service-based business. The main source of income for the business comes from providing motorela or habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) services to local community members. Samuel has been engaged in his business for over five years and earns approximately 5000 Philippine pesos (PHP) a month from it.

In 2009, Samuel joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve his living situation and ability to engage in business. He has successfully repaid his last loan from HSPFI, which was for 10,000 PHP and was used to purchase materials needed to provide service.

Samuel is now requesting his third loan from HSPFI, for 10,000 PHP, which will be used to to purchase materials needed to provide service. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand the business.
