I am currently the sole owner and patent-pending holder of the product Lively Susan. I grew up in Baltimore City and I began my work career at a very early age. I have had the good fortune to have been employed by multiple Fortune 500 companies which taught me a lot. I was also fortunate enough to go back to school at a mature age and obtain a BS degree in Biology/Allied Health.
As an employee for some of the biggest companies in the world, I had the knack for inventing things and processes that saved these companies untold revenue and incomes. I noticed, in many cases, if I could understand a problem and had the necessary resources, I could produce a better result! The idea of the Lively Susan came to me when I was trying to make a process better. Over the years I have updated and modified the original design. The concept was further validated after the University of Maryland School of Law agreed to help me obtain the patents and trademarks.
This launch gives me the platform to share and develop what I think is a needed product that could have a significant impact on the environment. Additionally, with the right launch and development, it will give me the opportunity to provide jobs and resources for the Baltimore community. My hope is that the Lively Susan will be the foundation of many more environmentally friendly concepts to offer to consumers.

My product is the Lively Susan. It is designed to challenge the traditional Lazy Susans that are found in homes across the world. It is also designed to be used in catering venues with its display configurations. The product will introduce a concept of a multi-functional Susan. Unlike traditional single functioning Lazy Susans, the Lively Susan will do everything your basic Lazy Susan does, with more customization. The product is patent-pending and trademark pending.
After working with many industrial designers, the final prototype was developed. Since then, I have worked with a reputable and visionary industrial designer and two dynamic manufacturers in China--and now the product is ready to launch! We have created a website designed and set up for orders and are ready to move into e-commerce through Amazon as well. The overseas manufacturers and designers continue to be great partners while sharing my vision for the product. They have preliminarily designed the next phases of some of the accessories for the product and are ready to start the initial production run.
The expectation is to launch phase I and additional phases as sales and traction increase. With the current infrastructure set up and great design and manufacturing partners, the product is well-positioned to have a very successful launch. We look forward to having a successful product and being apart of the Kiva network of successful companies.

Every loan has only 30 days to fundraise on Kiva. There are 2 different options for how that funding is sent to the field:
Fixed: the total loan amount must be raised in order for funds to be sent to the Lending Partner. If the loan is not funded in full within the fundraising period, the loan will expire and any funds raised will be returned to lenders' Kiva accounts.
Flexible: any funds raised within 30 days will be passed along to the Lending Partner facilitating the loan and they will come up with other sources of funding to cover the rest of the loan amount.
What does "Partner covers currency loss" mean & how could it affect my Kiva loans?
When lending internationally, the local currency in a borrower's country may lose some of its value compared to the US dollar -- requiring the partner to use more of its local currency to repay Kiva in USD. We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
"No" means that the Lending Partner is not covering any currency losses and all losses will be passed onto lenders.
