A loan helped to buy building materials to rebuild her home and the stock to continue a canteen selling groceries, fuels, and e-services.

Sanita's story

Sanita knows that her canteen business was making life convenient for the villagers of Nasolo, as they didn’t need to travel to the nearest towns for grocery shopping.

However, when a tropical cyclone hit the northern islands of Fiji, the house that Sanita called home was heavily damaged. This was where her canteen business was based and where her children and grandchildren were raised, so it took a heavy toll on her emotionally to accept the reality of the situation.

Thankfully, with the help of the disaster responders, and the medical teams which included counselors, the grandmother of 16 could get all the medical and moral support she needed.

Sanita now sees the need to rebuild her home. She needs a loan to buy building materials along with the stock to continue her canteen business. She realizes that her canteen business is now not only a convenience store, but a lifeline, as people try to recover from the devastation brought about by TC Yasa.
