A loan helped buy the main ingredients to make tortillas and pupusas.

Reyna De La Paz's story

Reyna De La Paz R. H. is 41 years old and lives in the Sonsonate department. She lives with her working spouse and her two children who are studying. Reyna owns a tortilla shop where she has worked for over 15 years. It has been a very profitable business, in high demand, because the tortilla is part of the basic Salvadoran diet. She is a very hard worker and visionary who has the ability to produce very good traditional dishes, which is why she wants to expand her business sales. Reyna is requesting a loan through which she can have the money to invest for selling pupusas (a traditional Salvadoran food). She will buy wholesale corn to make her tortillas and pupusas; Likewise she will buy cheese, pork, beans, tomatoes and other ingredients for the development of the latter. She also wants to buy a bigger stove called “plancha”, which is especially used for making tortillas and pupusas, so she can make a large quantity of these and thus serve more customers. Reyna longs to see her business grow and thus have better economic stability for her family.
