A loan helped a single mom to buy farm inputs and improve her production, thus supporting her family during this health crisis.

Nancy's story

Nancy is 25 years old single mom and resides in Engineer, a town that is home to a number of elite athletes in Kenya.

She has been farming for the past few years, and, through farming, she has made meaningful accomplishments for her family.

Nancy is seeking this loan to buy quality farm inputs to improve her production, thus supporting her family during this health crisis.

The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is the lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing, thereby guaranteeing their survival. Supporting Nancy with a loan will be key to helping her face the financial crisis that has been brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
