A loan helped to purchase fertilizers and pesticides to improve the quality of his produce.

Stephen Gachanja's story

Stephen is 35 years old with 1 wife and 5 kids. He is the sole breadwinner in his family as his wife raises their children. He is able to provide for his family through his pineapple farming operation.

He does not have enough funds and this is the reason he is requesting a Kiva loan of 40,000 KES to enable him to purchase fertilizers and pesticides to improve the quality of his produce for his crops to be better. He also wants to increase his profit in the long run to enable his family to be comfortable with their living standards. All this will be done as Stephen pays back the loan.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase supplies and agricultural equipment.
