Djemma's story

Djemma is from the village of Metz Mantash. Metz Mantash is in the Shirak region of Armenia. She is a widow with three daughters and a son. She considers herself a very hard worker and has been self-employed in the agricultural sector for over 18 years. Djemma did not complete her high school education and for some time worked as a trader of goods. Her main agricultural activities are raising animals and vegetable production.

Djemma is applying for a loan to purchase additional cattle and expand her business. According to her business plan the loan will enable her to increase her net income by 25%.

One of Djemma’s great joys is that her daughter is currently studying at Yerevan State University, majoring in foreign languages. With her business activities she is able to support her daughter’s education. She also provides support to her son who is now serving his two-year army commitment. At some point in the future she hopes to make some renovations to the family home.

Djemma really enjoys working on her farm and is proud of her accomplishments. She likes living in her village and remembers fondly her late husband.
