A loan helped to increase his margins when selling maize.

Isah's story

Isah is a maize farmer living in a small village in northern Nigeria. Similar to other farmers in the region, Isah's main income is from farming, a job perceived as non-lucrative. However, Isah is able to practice farming in a more lucrative way through access to training, quality agricultural inputs, and farming services that increases his yields to up to double the national Nigerian average.

Isah now needs a Harvest Advance loan to avoid losing part of his expected margins when he sells his maize at low prices during harvest to take care of his family's immediate needs.

Through this Harvest Advance Loan, Isah will receive cash equal to the value of his maize at harvest while Babban Gona stores his maize and sells it at a higher price in the future. With the increased income from this farming season, Isah plans to save for the family's future. This investment will enable Isah to contribute his maize quota to alleviating poverty in northern Nigeria.

This loan is special because:
