The eight members of the JIGUITOUGOU I group are married women with a mean age of 40 and an average of 5 children. They live mostly in polygamous families in YINASSO, one of the villages in the the town of KADIOLO, prefecture of Sikasso (third administrative region of Mali).
They collaborate with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution in order to see their agricultural activities through the rainy season. They are in their fourth collaboration with the institution and past loans have all been repaid.
Their crops include: millet, peanuts (from SALY O.) and beans.
With her new loan, SALY O. plans on buying fertilizer and small equipment to maintain the 4 hectares.
After the harvests, the crops are sold in the village at the KADIOLO and ZEGOUA markets to a clientele composed of men and women. She expects to earn a profit of approximately 275,000 CFA after the harvest, which will be used to pay the school fees for the children and health care for the family.
She hopes to continue this collaboration with Soro Yiriwaso in order to make the most of her cultivation area and collect more earnings.
