A loan helped a member working capital.

Las Canasteras Group's story

Loida Isabel Z. C. is thirty-nine years old. She is a person who has gotten ahead in life by raising animals, including pigs and laying hens. By doing this work, she has been able to support her family and cover her household expenses. For this reason, she had the idea to form a group of women so that the others can also make progress. The group has twelve members, all of them women, who work in different fields such as raising animals, selling clothing, selling staple goods, and making baskets. The members of the "Las Canasteras” communal bank of Chocaman, in the Santa Isabel area of Momostenango, are women who have known each other well for more than twelve years. They have decided to request a loan from ASDIR so that they can improve their living conditions and those of their families. The members are people with few economic resources, and it is a great help to them to expand their working capital, so that they can increase their sales and their income levels.

In this group: Loida Isabel, Maria Aracely, Tráncito, Maria Regina, Irma Yolanda, Maria, Marcelina, Hilda Victoria, Carmen Elena, Micaela Carolina, Laura Violeta, Elena Juayta
