Dios Es Nuestro Amparo 1 Group's story

Luchi is the coordinator of her group, Dios es Nuestro Amparo (God is our Protection), and her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients generally (many of whom recently emigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haiti). Her group is located in the slums north of the capital, Santo Domingo, an area where crime is rampant and where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her husband and their two children.

Luchi is excited to be taking her sixth loan with Kiva partner, Esperanza, after having successfully repaid her previous loan and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business selling shoes by purchasing men's shoes and sandals, women's shoes (with and without heels) and purses to sell. She will use the profits to invest in inverters for her home to deal with frequent blackouts, as well as save towards repairing her roof. She thanks you all for your support.

In this group: Luchi, Florentina, Brigida, Mejia, Ramona
