In my experience working for startups, I have over 5 experience in logistics, operations, and viewing the way third party solutions do not benefit communities of color. I launched Nopalito Delivery with the sole mission to provide an affordable platform for black/latinx businesses to connect to the community while uplifting their brand and employing in the community. We will deliver for farmers markets, not for profit food initiatives and restaurants, no large corporations.
I am motivated to continue this work because I was once a child living below the poverty line on the south side of Chicago and understand how important it is to keep people connected during COVID-19.

We started delivering for local home businesses on the south side of Chicago and quickly came to realize there is a need to connect small businesses to impacted areas. We then began to work with Healthy Hood to deliver PPE to impacted areas and families in need.
At El Nopalito Delivery, we believe in community, culture and assisting small local southside businesses connect with the community safely during this trying time. We offer affordable delivery services that let you stay connected to what you love while remaining safe at home during the COVID-19 crisis. What is the purpose of this loan?
A loan helps a Latina-owned business scale by financing the refrigeration truck for items in between deliveries, provide the capital necessary to contribute to the workforce of the south and west sides by providing salaries of two full-time additional staff in addition to remaining development costs. Our business will be impacted by the loan as we will scale, be able to provide more grocery deliveries throughout Chicago and reach more people in need.

We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.
Potential for currency exchange loss is noted on every loan profile under the loan details:
"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
"No" means that the Lending Partner is not covering any currency losses and all losses will be passed onto lenders.
"N/A" means the Lending Partner disburses loans to borrowers in USD so their loans are not subject to any currency fluctuation.
