A loan helped to pay for the winter season's agricultural expenses for an elderly woman so she will be able to keep providing for her big family.

Lumturie's story

Lumturie is a 68-year-old lady from a small village in south Albania. She lives with her elderly disabled husband, her daughter-in-law and her two granddaughters, aged 15 and 3 years old. Her son is currently working in Greece. Lumturije performs different agricultural activities to provide an income for her family, beside the retirement pensions and the disability pension her husband has. She has an apple orchard in a part of her family land, while in the other part she plants onions, potatoes and beans, which she sells during the entire winter season.

Lumturije is asking for the first time from Kiva lenders to support her and allow her to be able to pay for some winter season's agricultural expenses so she will be able to keep providing for her big family. "I want to plant some spinach, green salad and arugula for the winter season but I have no more savings left to pay for the land workings and fertilizations as I have not been able to sell much from the summer harvest!"-said Lumturije during the interview, hopefully she would have your support.
