A loan helped to buy farm inputs which she will use to optimize her production thus enabling her to improve her production.

Esther's story

Esther is a 70-year-old widow living in Siongiroi, a town that hosts a number of elite athletes in Kenya. She is a very hardworking woman who has worked very hard on her farm to enable her to support her family.

The major impediment to the development of smallhold farms in Kenya is a lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support small holder farmers in Kenya through financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival.

Esther is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs which she will use to optimize her production, thus enabling her to improve her production. Support her at this time when the Covid-19 pandemic has affected food systems, food security, and agricultural livelihoods.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
