A loan helped to buy mulberry for her tapa-making business.

Silila's story

Silila is a 50-year-old mother of seven children. Her husband is a carpenter, and they just finished building their new house.

Currently, she is a member of a tapa group of women in their village, and together they make tapas [patterned cloth made from the bark of the mulberry tree] once in every week. Silila enjoys working in this group because they are helping hand-in-hand and save money from hiring someone to help, for they are already enough.

She self-designs her tapas before she sells them at the local market and mainly to her relatives overseas. Although her business is running actively, there is an effect caused by COVID-19 restrictions, not only for her business, but all the businesses. The restrictions are on the number of people working together under one roof, and also the border restrictions.

Silila still strives for the goodness of her business. She applie for a loan from SPBD to purchase enough mulberry for her business.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
