A loan helped to buy mulberry and pandanus for her tapa making and weaving business.

Silila's story

Silila is a 54 years old mother of two grown children. Her husband is a farmer and they live in their own home. Silila currently runs two businesses which are weaving and tapa making. She joins a group of women in their village, and together they weave almost everyday, and they spend Saturday for tapa making only.

Silila plans to continue running her businesses to make enough money for renovating their house. There were minor damages caused by the cyclone but they were able to fix it. She applies her loan to buy mulberry and pandanus for her for her business because it is slow due to COVID-19 restrictions.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
