A loan helped a small regenerative farm feed their community during the COVID-19 crisis.

Joncarlo's story

Joncarlo Santos and Jocelyn Stevens met in 2017 when they attended the Organic Farm School together on Whidbey Island in Washington State.

Joncarlo grew up at the Jersey Shore. After moving to California with some friends right after high school, he realized that there was so much more access to fresh, clean food then he was ever exposed to back at home. That was what ultimately led to him attending the Organic Farm School in 2017. He's worked on farms in New Jersey, and Washington State.

Jocelyn grew up in Oregon. After having a child and searching for ways to feed him clean, healthy food she eventually concluded that she'd have to grow it herself. That blossomed into a love of growing food and she also found herself at the Organic Farm School in 2017. She's also worked on various farms in Washington State.

We both have a deep passion for land stewardship and food access. We believe that everyone should have access to clean food and that we should be living and working in harmony with the earth, not as a separate and unsustainable entity, but as one in symbiosis.
