A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizers, to improve the quality of her tea farm and increase her income.

Truphena's story

The last half of 2020 is here with us, and Juhudi Kilimo would like to present Truphena (pictured on her tea farm), from the Nyamira area of Kenya. This area lacks basic necessities such as clean water and connections from the national electricity grid.

Truphena is the true definition of a hard worker and is a happy mom of five children. She grows tea and engages in dairy farming. She produces milk and tea for commercial purposes, as opposed to many rural farmers who produce for subsistence. Truphena dreams that through farming, she will be able to pull away from poverty and see all her children successfully complete their studies. She is a visionary and is keen to ensure that she keeps on progressing.

Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, has extended its services to the remote areas in the Nandi Hills region of Kenya, and its staff is keen to ensure that hardworking moms like Truphena benefit from loans that enable them to purchase farming inputs.

Truphena is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as fertilizers to improve her tea crop. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. Through this intervention, she will be able to improve the quality of her farm products and attract more buyers. Kindly lend to a smallholder farmer this season!

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
