A loan helped to purchase more recharge cards and e-cash to increase her profit margin.

Esther's story

Esther is a 24-year-old who lives with her extended family in the Bawku West district of Ghana. She sells mobile phone recharge cards and mobile money. With her first Kiva loan, Esther was able to launch her business, and she reinvested her profit into her business.

She is requesting for a second loan to purchase more recharge cards and e-cash to increase her profit margin. She plans to use the profit to support her family’s basic needs. She will repay her loan with “social interest” by volunteering two and a half hours per week as a CAMFED Peer Educator leading life skills sessions for students in schools. She will cover topics such as my rights, my choice, choosing your career path, and active citizenship.

This loan is special because:

It helps borrowers withstand negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
