The community bank AMISTAD DE PALMIRA is located in Barrio Palmira on Las Ameritas street. The bank is in its 3rd cycle and is made up of 10 people. It was formed on May 12 of 2009 by a group of women.
The president is JULIA, CONSUELO is the treasurer, and MARIA is the secretary. In the group there are women sho sell bread, fruit juice, groceries, clothes, candy, roasted meat, empanadas and food. The meetings are held on Thursdays at 11:30 p.m. at Maria's house. The new clients that entered the group are happy to work with Emprender because the communal bank AMISTAD DE PALMIRA has a training that established a savings projection at the end of the cycle in which they will learn to save and share with their friends every 14 days.
JULIA ( the president) sells clothes as a street vendor in different popular markets. With this activity she takes care of her grandchildren in her free time and business is going well. In the communal bank she has learned to save, to love herself and to value herself as a person. Julia's dream is to have her own store and thus be able to pay for her grandchildrens' education and progress in life with her business. With the money from the loan she will purchase merchandise, such as seasonal clothing, an in this way increase her working capital.
All of the members are responsible and hardworking people who want to improve their and their whole families' quality of life. They are very grateful to Emprender and Kiva for the trust they have put in them by granting the loan.
