Quandra's story

I am a small business owner of a beauty salon located in downtown Baltimore, Md. I’m a hair stylist, hair practitioner, haircare specialist, and weaveologist. I create hair cranial prosthesis (wig hair units) for clients with and without alopecia. I’m a photographer, educator, mentor and single mom to an 11 year old boy. Since the early age of 13 years old, hair has been my passion. I was given the opportunity to be an assistant and braider of a full service salon at the age of 13, at which time I fell in love with haircare. I’ve taken many classes in my industry to further my knowledge in which I’ve received licenses and certifications. I believe knowledge is power and education is key.

I have traveled to other countries such as India to develop business relationships with companies so that I could provide the best hair extensions, satin and silk scarves and pillowcases and haircare products to my customers. I’ve traveled to Tanzania, Africa for my photography company to gain exposure, to develop relationships, to learn about the culture, and to further my knowledge and education on photography.
I provide Summer job opportunities for then youth works program. During this time, I teach the youth about self-love and worth, finance, hygiene, life expectancies and how to start a small business. I have a sincere passion in teaching and I love what I do as a professional.
