A loan helped to purchase construction materials.

Janat's story

Janat is a single mother, aged 35 years, who is a resident of the Jinja District. She sells soft drinks and also sells clothes as her secondary source of income. This is the fourth loan she is taking out from Ugafode Microfinance, and she has been paying back her loans well. Her businesses were operating well until the country was locked down.

The lockdown affected Janat, as her cash inflows were reduced, yet she was using the profits from her businesses to fund construction of her permanent residential house. She hopes to continue with the construction to finalize the house, but she is facing a challenge of limited funds. Thus, she is seeking a loan to buy construction materials for the site.

She hopes the construction will be done before the lockdown ends. It would also help her save more, as she hopes to permanently stage a boutique with a front store providing drinks at her home and start work afresh after the current situation, saving the money she was using for rent. She is a hardworking lady who is shrewd in business. Thank you, funders.
