A loan helped a queer, women-owned, inclusive business survive the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis.

Shannon's story

Creating Be Abundant Bodywork has been a dream over a decade in the making. As a trauma survivor, I experienced first hand how Craniosacral Therapy & Aquatic Integration changed my life. I first began learning these modalities as an assistant, in an apprentice style format. I then have gained many years of business ownership skills through various positions as an office manager, insurance biller, bookkeeper, financial analyst, and financial planner. While my passion remained with bodywork and healing modalities, I used my marketable job skills in finance and accounting in order to meet the financial needs of my family. I worked full time while attending night school in order to get my license to touch as a Licensed Massage Therapist, as well as my certifications in Aquatic Integration and Craniosacral Therapy. I am Portland’s first (and currently only) Certified Aquatic Integration Provider. I have carried the flame to create this practice since my first trainings as a layperson in 2008.
