Assilassimé Solidarité's story

Assilassimé Solidarité is a non-profit microfinance organization located in Lomé, Togo. Since 2013, Assilassimé has worked with Kiva lenders to provide loans to over 12,000 borrowers with more than $3,380,000 lent through Kiva.org. Assilassimé distinguishes itself by providing "social microfinance" to vulnerable individuals (mostly women), particularly those living with HIV or a disability, single mothers, and widows, with no guarantee or deposit required. Assilassimé also offers savings, business development training, and individualized support.

While historically a stable and sustainable organization, the global pandemic has led to Togo being under a partial lockdown, with internal movement restrictions and curfews, which has severely impacted Assilassimé’s operations. This includes a limited ability to disburse loans and receive repayments on the loans they disbursed before the crisis.

Like many businesses around the world, Assilassimé is unable to operate normally as a result of the crisis. This loan will help support Assilassimé to weather this crisis and continue serving vulnerable populations.
