I came from a small down in central CT. My family lived most of the time at the lower end of middle class families. My mother was sick most of my life and that prompted me to get into healthcare. I was a full time paramedic for 13 years in central and eastern CT serving some very troubled cities. Once I started a family is was difficult to keep up with 12 hour shift work so I left and became involved in the military health system for the next 6 years. I was responsible for ensuring service members and their families got the care they deserved and made sure their claims and benefits were processed correctly and always there for them. It was my honor as I moved up the ladder at my company to serve as a healthcare technology professional and a service center manager for TRICARE. I then moved to the state of MD and on for working for medical providers directly and processing claims, authorizations, billing, and AR recovery. I also became a customer service manager for a major radiology firm and long term care pharmacy. I moved into consulting for the CMS Medicare customer service staff at a major government contractor. In 2013 I felt I needed to bring all this experience together by opening my own business. Its been a huge learning experience for me. I am driven by the fact that most of my clients are female sole proprietor healthcare providers. I absolutely love helping women get their businesses going from the bottom up. My clients have been with me for years because they trust me to help them, give them advice, and speak the language of healthcare. This is my passion.

Business Description
My business provides medical billing, credentialing, consulting, denial management and AR recovery for small 1-5 person medical offices. We provide the technology to help the providers remain HIPAA compliant as well as keep their cash flow coming into them. Rather than have them be gobbled up by large hospital systems we try to keep them as independent as possible to serve their clients as they see fit and not how a large hospital organization would tell them to. I wanted to have this business because I have always been an entrepreneur at heart and wanted to put all my medical skills to work for others. Thankfully most of what I and my staff do can be done remotely, however I did have an office until the pandemic broke out. I was forced to leave it and now work from home due to a decrease in all my client's income which directly effects my income. My biggest challenge has always been balancing being good at business while still being a human. Because I am very attached to my clients I can be over invested in their success while potentially sacrificing mine. I want to keep my staff (1099 contractors) consistently paid and thus am still not to the point where I can pay myself regularly. My goals for this business is to continue to serve my clients professionally and accurately so that they may continue to grow their businesses. Success to me means keeping my clients in business. If they are in business then I am in business. The thing that makes me most proud in my business is that my clients stay with me for years. I don't have a revolving door of clients like big billing companies do. My clients trust me to do my job which helps them do theirs better and with less anxiety. My husband is a 49% partner in the LLC so our business is really family owned. I believe the biggest social impact I have is keeping these small providers in business so that sick people can see their provider for the length of time they need, when they need to, and feel confident that their provider is spending the time they need to with them.
What is the purpose of this loan?
I need to keep paying my staff. They have been with me for years and they can't afford to be out of money during this pandemic either. I have not cut their hours or salary because they depend on it. My business will be able to weather this storm if I can keep my staff and perhaps add another member to it so that my clients can also not feel as impacted by the pandemic.

"Partial" means that the Lending Partner has opted to cover losses only up to 10%. If the U.S. dollar appreciates more than 10% against the local currency, those losses will be passed onto lenders.
"No" means that the Lending Partner is not covering any currency losses and all losses will be passed onto lenders.
"N/A" means the Lending Partner disburses loans to borrowers in USD so their loans are not subject to any currency fluctuation.
Do Kiva borrowers pay any interest on their loans?
Our partners collect interest from borrowers because there are many operational expenses associated with microfinance in developing markets, especially in rural areas. Many of Kiva's Lending Partners also provide additional services alongside their loan products such as business training, financial literacy lessons, or health services.
Kiva will not partner with an organization that charges unreasonable interest rates, and we require Lending Partners to fully disclose their rates. In addition, we only partner with microfinance institutions and organizations that have a social mission to serve the poor, unbanked, and underserved.
