A loan helped a member to buy fingerlings for fish raising.

Muong Phang 29 Group's story

Doan is a 33-year-old Thai ethnic woman who is married and has three children. She lives with her husband, her children, and parent-in-law in a small house in a remote village of Dien Bien province where agriculture is the main income generating activity of the locals.

Her two daughters are studying in secondary school and her son is studying in primary school. In order for her children to attend school, Doan and her husband have to work very hard at farming and breeding with several activities such as growing rice and corn and raising fish, pigs, buffaloes, chickens, and ducks. This is the twelfth time she has taken out a loan from the Anh Chi Em program (ACE). Her plan is to use this loan to buy fingerlings for fish raising. In the previous loan, she borrowed money to invest in pig raising and made a profit which she used to buy fertilizer for rice fields and pay for her children's education. This time, Doan hopes that with the continued support of ACE in terms of both loan and agricultural technology, those fingerlings will grow up fast and healthy. She will use the profits to reinvest in her breeding model. In the picture, she stands first from the right.
