A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer, to help this mom improve her crop farm.

Joan's story

Joan, a 30-year-old mom of two pictured outside her simple house, is very hardworking. Her dream of establishing herself as a young woman made her invest in mixed farming. Today, she owns a small farm where she plants different varieties of crops to sell, and also keeps dairy cows. She has been doing this business for many years.

During this period of time, she has acquired various skills and experience that enable her to stand as an independent woman who is respected throughout her village. Joan’s farm is in Eldoret, in the Rift valley area of Kenya.

The biggest constraint to Joan’s success is the huge deficit in terms of access to agricultural inputs, meaning that her yields and income are far below what they could be. Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers from her village, like Joan, can now buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Joan is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer, to improve her crop farm. Your loan will enable her to improve her food production. This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for crops in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and improve the quality of life for her family.

With just a loan, help this woman to accomplish all her dreams!

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
