I went on a vacation in 2014 to Ecuador with my husband, after learning of the devastating situation of thousands of unowned, roaming, starving street dogs in the country, we came home to Colorado determined to make a difference in Ecuador! Amici Cannis USA was founded in 2016 to be a fundraising platform for our non-profit hospital in Ecuador. We are an official 501c3 in the US in good standing. I am the director of this non-profit and was the founding veterinarian of the hospital. I used to own a wonderful small animal veterinary hospital in Colorado but have since officially retired and moved to Ecuador to follow my passion of helping the homeless pet population in Cotacachi Ecuador and helping the poor pet owning families in the indigenous communities surrounding the town. I have volunteered my veterinary skills and business experience to running this foundation in Ecuador since November of 2017. Amici Cannis started in 2016 as a hospital to provide free veterinary care to the roaming street dog population of Cotacachi as well as free or low cost services to the owners of pets in the poor surrounding communities. We have sterilized, vaccinated, dewormed and treated unlimited diseases in the animals of our region successfully since 2016! The government has mandated involuntary shutdown of our hospital during the Covid19 outbreak and this prevents us from providing services of an elective nature that raise funds to support our staff and continue to work for the street dogs. Please help Amici Cannis continue to care for the street dog population as well as for the staff who has dedicated years of their life to this cause!
What is the purpose of this loan?
We will use funds to help pay our staff, continue to buy supplies for the hospital function and continue the work of spay/neuter, vaccination and care of the dogs on the street and in the poor communities. This loan will allow us to continue to function until the country has recovered from the COVID19 virus and the United States can go back to participating in our fundraising efforts to keep us sustainable. We honestly do not expect the loan to increase revenue or profits, just aid us in keeping the hospital open. We are a non-profit and wouldn't be applying for a loan unless we were in a desperate situation to keep our functions going!

We offer some Lending Partners the option to protect themselves against currency fluctuations by choosing to pass on these losses to Kiva lenders. By bearing this risk, lenders protect the partner and its borrowers from catastrophic currency devaluations and contribute to the sustainability of their operations.

"Yes" means the Lending Partner will cover any currency loss. Lenders will not bear losses due to currency fluctuation
